Name, symbolism, art history

The Jahanara Dove Choker refers in its form and color to the court jewelry of the Great Mughals, where bird motifs decorated both necklaces and fabrics. Princess Jahanara Begum, daughter of Emperor Shah Jahan, was not only a patron of art and architecture, but also a promoter of spiritual freedom, symbolized by a flying bird. This motif appeared in the art of Sufi Islam as a reflection of the soul in flight – longing for harmony with the divine.

Symbolism of elements and materials

A string of natural pearls symbolizes femininity, purity and inner light – features that were attributed to selected souls in the Sufi tradition. The bird made of mother-of-pearl and glass emanates a balance between power and delicacy – the wings resemble a fan of protection, and the golden contours give it the character of a sacred miniature. Red glass is the color of royal courage, and the pearl hanging from the bird's beak - a sign of the heart's speech and truth.

Handmade process step by step

The creation process begins with hand-casting the pendant in the form of a bird, then the goldsmith covers it with glaze, which is fired in a kiln for color durability and cut precisely to the shape on the pendant. Mother of pearl and microcrystals are hand-embedded, and every detail is polished with jewelry precision. Finally, a string of pearls is mounted - threaded, matched in color and fastened with a classic clasp, creating a choker with perfect symmetry.
